Mifflin County  Huskies Walk It Off Against Altoona

It came down to the wire on Wednesday, as Mifflin County Huskies grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 3-2, over Altoona. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when Ava Baker singled, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Huskies pitchers struck out one, while Altoona sat down one.

Altoona got on the board in the first inning after Natalie Baker laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

A walk by Kaya Sprankle extended the Altoona lead to 2-0 in the top of the second inning.

The Huskies tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a fielder’s choice by Carly Dickson, and an error.

Macy Pietzch earned the win for the Huskies. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Skyler Reed took the loss for Altoona. The pitcher went six and one-third innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking five. Piper Specht stepped in the circle first for the Mifflin County Huskies. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out none and walking four.

Malaina Maxwell and Baker were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Huskies. Dickson and Baker each drove in one run for the Huskies. Riley Hine led Mifflin County with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.

Sprankle led the team with one run batted in. Baker, Kendall Cogan, and Mary Worley each collected one hit for Altoona. Altoona turned one double play in the game.

Next up for the Huskies is a game at West Perry on Thursday.
