Mifflin County Huskies Roll Past Curwensville Golden Tide

Mifflin County won big over Curwensville 14-0 on Friday.

The Huskies jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Reese Christine was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Logan Alexander was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Easton Lepley hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.

Mifflin County extended their early lead with five runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Evan Strohecker, Jayden Smith, Landon Haigh, and Lepley.

The Huskies added one run in the third after Lincoln Ruble singled to right field on a 3-0 count.

Haigh earned the win for Mifflin County. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking two. Cael Butler took the loss for the Golden Tide. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking none. Merek Sutika started the game for Curwensville. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit and four runs (three earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking two. Madden Weaver collected the save.

Mifflin County amassed 14 hits in the game. Lepley, the number seven hitter for the Huskies, led the way with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Ruble, Lepley, and Smith each collected two hits for Mifflin County. The Huskies ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game. Mifflin County was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Lepley had the most chances in the field with 15.

The Golden Tide turned one double play in the game.

Mifflin County will travel to Chambersburg for their next game on Tuesday.
