Mifflin County has strong outing in weekend tourney

After 10 outstanding sets and an incredible effort in the Tournament Semifinals, the Mifflin County Junior High Varsity Volleyball team ends the season competitively at the Chambersburg Trojan Bash. 

The Huskies struggled at the start of their first tournament and lost to Hershey 20-25, but they found momentum in the second set and won 25-14. 

The victory streak continued with a 25-23 and 25-17 victory over Northeastern. 

The Huskies bested then-undefeated Greencastle 25-21, but fell in the second set 23-25.

Mifflin County then battled Gettysburg to split sets of 20-25 and 25-15.

Entering playoffs as the Second Seed in their pool, the Huskies defeated Shippensburg in a 25-18 Quarterfinal Victory. 

The Huskies were ultimately defeated by a tough Waynesboro in the Semifinal match. 

The victorious team was led by:

  • Jensyn Taylor, outside hitter- 12 kills, 10 aces, and an exceptional 42 digs 
  • Captain Sophie Albert, opposite- 8 kills, 8 aces, 16 digs, and 2 assists 
  • Captain Ella Hartlzer, setter- 7 kills, 7 aces, 12 digs, and an impressive 21 assists 
  • Brooke Wray, outside hitter- 6 kills, 6 aces, and 14 digs 
  • Amilia Green, middle blocker- 6 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs, and 4 blocks 
  • Braylin Walters- 5 kills, 11 aces, and 8 digs
  • Savannah Bonson, libero- 16 digs
