HERSHEY – The 1-2 Mifflin County Huskies traveled to 2-1 Hershey Trojans at Hershey Highschool Stadium.
Mifflin County started out well against the Trojans holding Hershey scoreless in the first quarter. But it wouldn’t be enough as Hershey took home the 35-7.
We gotta rebound we have to get better we have to clean up the little things up that are really killing us whether it is mental or physical things,” said Mifflin County coach Shane Breon. “We have to start doing things better. We had a slow start. We had chances to score. We missed those opportunities. It could’ve been a closer game but we had our punts blocked one for a return for a touchdown you just can’t do that in this league it will kill you every time.”
Mifflin County was kept in check for the first half. The Huskies did play pretty good defense on occasions Hunter Tipton recorded a tackle for a loss in the first quarter with 10:22 remaining to help his team hold the Trojans.
Huskies Gavin Herrington was all over the field making tackles Jordyn Daly racked up the tackles despite falling to Hershey.
“We need to rebound just trying to motivate my team we got be better this can’t happen we are a way better team than this,” said Mifflin County’s Cyrell Green.
Mifflin County found sparks in the second half from quarterback Chase Hartung connecting on a pass to Green for 8 yard score that would be the only touchdown the Huskies would score.Mifflin County had big plays from Landon Haigh and Avery Aurand. The versatile player had a big catch in the first half.
Aurand and Dupree Reed had some favorable returns during kick returns setting Mifflin County up with favorable field position.
Mifflin County’s offense didn’t see much action in explosive plays for the Huskies the rest of the game. Mifflin County targeted Green a lot in the second half to try to Mount a couple good drives.
Hartung would try to find his receiver late but his pass would be picked off to seal the game for the Trojans.
Hershey had great performances from many of their players running backs. Sean Elliott was at his best finding the end zone three times for a hat trick in the winning effort. Hershey’s only big play from the Trojans came on a 48-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Cameron Sweeney Mifflin County falls to Hershey 35-7.
