Back to their winning ways!

Thursday at Greencastle Antrim the MIfflin County boys soccer team was able to notch a clutch 2-1 Win.

Despite Shots 8-5 Greencastle leading in shots on goal by a 8-3 margin and the both finishing tied at three corners, the Huskies had what it took to secure the victory.

“Our first half wasn’t that pretty. We played with very heavy feet that kept the ball from staying in our possession and helped them out. A PK was called when our play got sloppy in the back and put us in a bad spot, and they finished the PK with 11 to go in the first half as the rain soaked the turf,” said Mifflin County assistant coach Todd Peters. “We talked over some things as a team at halftime that would be necessary to do to be successful, and we came out hungry. The rain stopped, we adapted to the wet turf, and we got hungrier as the match went on as our touches cleaned up and we got back to “Dog Soccer.”

Jace Bagrosky weighted a ball through to Zach Keller who ran onto it and continually hounded the defense to finish their first with 15 minutes left in the second half.

That goal amped the whole entire team on the field, sidelines, and coaching staff as we gained more steam.

Then with 1:53 left in the match, the Huskies moved the ball smoothly, Bruce Baker put a shot on frame that gave up a rebound and Jace Bagrosky put himself in an excellent spot to crash the goal and bury the winner.

“Our team battled back so well and with a lot of heart and that was awesome to see,” said Peters. “Some big stops by Jack in cage, our back defensive line and other positions stepping up when we needed it most earned us this hard-fought win.”
