Mifflin County Baseball has memorable Opening Day Ceremonies

LEWISTOWN – Sunday Rec Park welcomed in a big crowd for its annual Little League Opening Day Ceremony.

The old faces left and new ones replace them to leave a footprint on the little league legacy of baseball with so many greats to play the sport and greats that went on to makes big names for themselves to name a few Olivia Ahern ,Jaxson Pupo,Isaiah Kearns that’s just naming a few.

Mifflin County great Olivia Ahern went onto to play for the MIfflin County Huskies softball team then continuing her career at the collegiate level at Bucknell University. Pupo worked his way up the ranks playing his baseball for the MIfflin County Huskies he would continue his career at Lock Haven.

Kearns would make  a name wherever he went and everywhere he played. He played his high school ball at Mifflin County then would continue his career at the collegiate level at Pitt Johnstown and West Virginia he would then be drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2020.

The Future of baseball were led by 10 years olds the Braves, Matthews,Brewers,Trutt, Burnham Bulldogs,Milroy, Reedsville Cardinals, Wrays Landscaping Big Daddy’s Grill and Chill,Tater Built,Dietz Electric,Lake Dealerships Rothrock GOld and Rothrock Blue,ReedsVille Giants Siglerville,Belleville Phillies,Swinefords,Joes OIP, Kovalchik,Blaise Alexander,Rita’s, Vegas Landscaping,Wilson’s Meats.

Some other funs things that went on at the field today were the Mifflin County Huskies players throwing out the first pitch. Landon Haigh, Lincoln Ruble,Reese Christine and Easton Lepley all took their turns at the mound. Abby Traxler sung the National Anthem while also throwing out the first pitch. Even the Easter Bunny was also in attendance and threw out the first pitch.

When asked Landon Haigh about his experience on throwing out the first pitch he was honored with the chance. 

“It’s pretty cool. I mean I grew up playing on this field,it feels a lot different and feels a lot smaller,” Haigh said. “But I’m glad we have all these kids out here playing baseball this year.”

Opening Day is approaching and we are set for another year of great memories.
