SCRANTON – Madden Weaver was brilliant on the hill on Tuesday, as Weaver threw a no-hitter to lead Mifflin County Babe Ruth 14U All Stars past Altoona 7-2.
An early lead helped propel the Mifflin County All-Stars to victory. Mifflin County scored on a double by Braxton Smith and a double by Weaver in the second inning.
Mifflin County pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Smith doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run and Weaver doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Mifflin County put up four runs in the sixth inning. Reese Christine, Chase Leister, and Smith each had RBIs in the frame.
Weaver was on the mound for MC. The ace surrendered two runs on zero hits over seven innings, striking out eight.
Albright started the game for Altoona. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three. Crownover, Georgianna, LaRocco, and McAllister each entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings, one and one-third innings, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.
Smith went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mifflin County in hits.
