WILLIAMSPORT – Mifflin County stayed in it until the end, but West End pulled away late in a 7-6 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with West End batting in the bottom of the sixth when Grant Vilello singled on a 3-1 count, scoring three runs.
Despite the loss, Mifflin County did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, West End had 11 hits on the way to victory.
Mifflin County got on the board in the first inning when Clay Ammon doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Ryan Schur earned the victory on the hill for West End. The bulldog lasted two innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out one and walking zero.
Jacob Ross took the loss for MC. The righthander went one-third of an inning, allowing five runs on four hits and walking one.
Kyreek Bowersox started the game for West End. Bowersox surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings, striking out four Logan Alexander started the game for Mifflin County. Alexander surrendered two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one.
Mifflin County totaled nine hits in the game. Ammon, Aidan Arnold, and Alexander each collected multiple hits for MC. Ammon went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mifflin County in hits.
West End had 11 hits in the game. Vilello and Bowersox all managed multiple hits for West End.
