Mifflin County 15-16s Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against Broomall Newtown

It came down to the wire on Saturday, as Mifflin County 15-16s grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 8-7, over Broomall Newtown . The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the eighth when Jay Smith singled, scoring one run.

Reese Christine collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Christine tripled in the first inning, singled in the sixth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

An error put Mifflin County on the board in the bottom of the first.

Mifflin County committed an error, which helped Broomall Newtown  tie the game at one in the top of the second.

A single by Blaze Shreffler gave Mifflin County the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth.

Broomall Newtown  flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 6-2 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Mifflin County went back into the lead after Christine singled, and Smith walked, each scoring one run.

Brady singled, which helped Broomall Newtown  tie the game at seven in the top of the seventh.

Parker Crownover led things off on the mound for Mifflin County. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and one run (zero earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking six. Doogan began the game for Broomall Newtown . They allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Wyatt Parkes tossed one inning of shutout ball for Mifflin County in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking three.

Mifflin County accumulated 11 hits in the game. Karl Shirey and Smith each drove in two runs for Mifflin County. Na Zae Traxler stole two bases. Mifflin County had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Mifflin County  ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game.

Brady led Broomall Newtown  with two hits in four at bats. Stowman, Brady, and Doogan each drove in one run for Broomall Newtown . Conaty led Broomall Newtown  with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing 14 walks for the game. Matthew stole two bases.

Mifflin County All-star will travel to Media for their next game on Sunday.
