LEWISTOWN – The MIfflin County 12U girls soccer team found itself in a thriller against visiting Camp Hill Saturday morning at Rec Park.

The contest would go down to the buzzer as Camp Hill would take the contest 2-1.

Camp Hill took their first offensive opportunity and was able to hit and early goal, taking a 1-0 advantage.

However, the MIfflin County defense was able to keep their opponent from cashing in again in the first half.

Mifflin County goalie Addison Weaver played a very strong game in the goal area. Stepping up huge in the first to keep her team in the contest.

The MIfflin County back-line made numerous plays to keep the feisty Camp Hill offense from getting any good looks at the goal.

Offensively, Addison Benfer and Grace Yoder were instrumental in pushing the MIfflin County offense.

They were able to get the ball downfield before the Camp Hill defense would come and clamp down on the outside runs. Playing strong back-line play were Kylinn Swineford, Hannah Parson and Navanna Shirk.

The two teams went into the intermission with Camp Hill leading by one.

The kids from MC finished with six corner opportunities and two strong shots on goal.

Mifflin County came out of the half on a mission, they began to push the ball to try to tie the contest.

Opening up the period, Yoder pushed to ball down the field trying to get the momentum.

It would lead to a corner opportunity.

But Camp Hill would reverse the field, clearing the ball back up the field after a shot by Benfer.

Minutes later, MIfflin County took possession once again, this time they would make the most of the possession.

Benfer would make sure this time she was going to hit the back of the net. She did just that, tying things at one. She was assisted on the goal by Swineford.

Camp Hill though came right back to take the lead once again, upping it to a 2-1 advantage.

Mifflin County rallied and refused to go away without a battle. They went back to work.

On their second corner of the half, MIfflin County pounded the Camp Hill goalie.

First Taryn Hubler blasted a shot that was saved by Camp Hill. Then Navanna Shirk took her shot. She was also caught by Camp Hill .

With a third corner, the locals just missed a goal. On the throw in, the ball went to Sarah Erb. Erb’s header just missed going in.

But that would be as close as MIfflin County would run out of time, despite their efforts. It was quite the thrilling game for these future Huskies. They showed that the refuse to ever give up no matter what.
