It was another banner night for the MIfflin County boys Cross Country team finished ninth at the Paul Short Invitational Friday.

Carter Smith continues his torrid run through the competition placing first with a time of top time of 15:04.

“It was a special one for our team today. Paul Short is a massive meet with over 7,000 runners competing over the course of the weekend. We knew we had to bring our absolute best and every single runner 1-12 rose to the occasion,” said Mifflin County coach Alex Monroe. “Individually a few were disappointed, but they got the job done and I think a little perspective goes a long way if you look back at our first few races. It takes a lot of trust in the plan for them to succeed the way they are right now. Individually, I do need to highlight Carter Smith and Wyatt Kauffman.”

Finishing in 39th place was Wyatt Kauffman with a time of 16:14.

Teammate Reese Cubbison finished his race posting a 16:44 good enough for 72nd place.

Hart Oden’s time of 17:00 earned him a 101st mark.

Coming in at 154th place was Hoyt Rodenbaugh topping out at 17:23.

Koy Aurand placed 174th with a mark of 17:34.

Teammate Aidan Scavetti finished at 220th place with a 17:59.

At 388th was Styers Oden with a 19:36.

Coming in at 399th place was Camryn Treaster. Treaster finished with a time of 19:43.

Logan Breneman’s time of 20:01 earned him a 417th place finish.

At 444, Alex Horn ran his race with a finishing mark of 21:00.

Rounding out the place finishers at 461 was Colton Leister posting a mark of 23:27.

“For Carter, today was his second real test at this distance/event. The results were incredible, and yet I’m not at all surprised. We agreed yesterday that a fast time would come with just competing out there. He wanted sub 15 but there’s no doubt it’s only a matter of time,” said Monroe. “His composure has been unbeatable and he intends to keep it that way.”

“Wyatt Kauffman on the other hand has surprised me but in the best way. We started the season wanting to break 17 and he just ran 16:14. Like Carter, he has really taken to the longer distance and is just tough as nails. Watching him start to believe he belongs has been really fun.”

The Huskies have a week break before the Mid Penn Championships October 12th.
