MCVEYTOWN – McVeytown got going early and never looked back winning in their final home game of the season by defeating the Juniata Little Indians with a 41-0 final during a CKFL Peewee division football game Sunday afternoon.
Things got hectic as the opening kickoff occurred, the Eagles managed to get the ball away from Juniata with Alexander Weaver storming to and jumping on top of the ball.
But it wasn’t until late in the first period where McVeytown finally got on the board as Weaver flew into the endzone to get a seven yard rushing touchdown. Calvin Napikoski found Matthew Hartsock for the two point conversion making it 8-0.
However, on the kickoff, Juniata fumbled the football after a massive hit by Weaver and the ball fell into the arms of Hartsock.
The Eagles capitalized with a big run from Hartsock going 44 yards for the touchdown. The score was 14-0 after one quarter of play.
McVeytown pulled off another big play as Napikoski received a punt and found open space and flew down the sideline for a 70 yard punt return. Weaver scored the extra point making it 21-0.
Defensively the Eagles came up big again as Cole Laughlin recovered the fumble. And once again the Eagles turned it into points as Jase Snyder went 13 yards for the score. Canyan Brown scored the extra point.
With the score now 28-0, McVeytown thanks to a sack by Lincoln Knable which allowed the offense to come back on and score their last touchdown of the half as Laughlin muscled his way into the endzone to complete a seven yard run.
The last touchdown of the game happened during the third quarter with an eight yard run from Weaver. Weaver also got the extra point making it 41-0.
Some other Eagles players also made an impact in the game, Konnor Snook, Henley Strausser and Cael Conner also made some plays on the defensive end.
For Juniata, they had some big plays from players like Banks Hackenberger, Von Mianulli, Mason DeLancey, Connor Dobson and Cooper Snyder.
However, the Little Indians were able to come out victorious over the Eagles during the Mighty Mights game which featured three overtimes. Both teams gave it their very best but again, Juniata was able to win by the final score of 9-8.
McVeytown will hit the road next week as the Eagles will face the Kish Indians on Sunday with the Mighty Mights game starting at noon.
Meanwhile Juniata will also be traveling as the Little Indians will do battle with the Burnham Bulldogs with start time being at noon with the Mighty Mights.
