ALTOONA – One more to go!
Saturday afternoon the MIfflin County 15-year old All-Stars Babe Ruth team topped the Altoona Teener League in semi final action, 6-1 to punch their ticket to the championship game Sunday.
Leading the way offensively for MIfflin County was catcher Aidan Arnold and Logan Alexander with two hits each.
Aiden Attivo brought in two RBIs while teammates Kaden Walter and Alexander both notching two.
On the mound, Alexander went the distance scattering eight hits, allowing only one run.
After two, both teams remained scoreless but in the third MIfflin County came out with a blistering 4-run inning.
Keister singled to get the inning going singling to start off the rally.
With one out, Clay Ammon singled into right moving Keister up to second.
Arnold loaded the bases with a single to third.
Alexander helped his own cause as he blasted an RBI smashing the ball to short, making it a 1-0 contest.
Kaden Walter picked up an easy RBI as he walked with the bases loaded.
Attivo brought in both Arnold and Alexander, taking the 4-0 lead going into the fourth.
Both defenses took over in the fourth and fifth.
But in the sixth, MIfflin County added some insurance runs.
Walters led off the inning with an innocent single.
Grady Hoppel reached on an Altoona error.
Brennan Guido walked to load the bases. Both Hoppel and Walters scored on another Altoona miscue.
That would be all Alexander and his defense would need as they allowed just a run in the sixth before totally shutting down Altoona.
Tomorrow, with a trip to the Babe Ruth World Series on the line, MIfflin County will be looking to add another notch in its legendary history.
