MC XC wins Varsity Boys Race

ALTOONA – The winning continues!

Mifflin County cross country runners Carter Smith, Wyatt Kauffman, Scavitti and Reese Cubbison all finished in the top 10 Saturday at the Mt. Lion Invitational.

With the dominating performance, the Huskies captured first.

Teammates Koy Aurand, Hart Oden and Styers Oden all finished in the top 25 event.

The Huskies had a phenomenal day in Altoona. They pieced things together in a way that I haven’t seen yet this season,” said Mifflin County coach Alex Monroe. “We had multiple PRs on a course that usually doesn’t allow for that to happen. I would even go as far as to say we had a few of our boys feeling a little flat, and they still showed up on a mission. I expected a win but it was really dominant today.”

Leading the way for the Huskies was Smith who finished with a first place time of 16:43.

Placing third in the meet was Kauffman with a time of 17:04.

In the seventh spot, Scavitti picked up a time of 17:31.

Cubbison rounded out the top 10 with a ninth place time of 18:08.

“They are figuring out how to run together and hold it. The praise also goes beyond the varsity squad, as our JV runners were just awesome out there too,” said Monroe. “Huge PRs from a few and overall really confident racing. They all return Tuesday against Central Dauphin and Central Dauphin East.”
