The Mifflin County Junior High cross country teams opened the season with strong showings at the Big Valley Invitational Saturday in Reedsville.
Led by Daliyah Bargas’ runner-up place finish in the 87-runner girls’ field, the Huskies took second place in the team competition, followed by teammates Elissa Bell in 13th, Lillian Adams 18th, Maddy Yoder 22nd, Adalyn Lutz 35th, and Jakayla Colon in 57th place. It was the first cross country race for five of the six girls.
On the boys’ side, Levi Anderson, a returnee from last year, captured 7th place, followed by Kenneth Swartzell in 13th. Aiden Wible and Nolan Wade rounded out the field with solid performances in their debuts. A total of 90 runners competed in the boys race.
