MC girls XC team falls in battle against Cumberland Valley
Sep 2, 2025

The Mifflin County Cross Country Lady Huskies faced off against Cumberland Valley (CV) in their first dual meet of the season. Despite CV defeating Mifflin County, 23-38, numerous of the Husky runners had a great race.

Running the first race after sitting in school all day is always an adjustment. Temperatures are often 10-20, even 30 degrees warmer than a morning race might be later in the season. “Despite these challenges, I am happy with the effort each of the athletes put in today. Their legs were tired from Saturday, but they still went out and put in the work,” said Mifflin County coach Neil Brenemen. “ Amilia Coffey and Ava Kratzer looked really strong running together up front for the team, taking the second and third spots. Lizzy Massie had her first run for the season and defeated last season’s personal best by more than 2 minutes! I could tell Lizzy was going to have a great day by how she had been running at practice. Caroline Palopoli is moving back on track and has moved closer to her PR from last season.”

“Overall, I am really proud of how well the girls ran today coming off a great race Saturday. We will now go back to work in practice and prepare for our next race on Tuesday, September 9th on our home course.”
