The Mifflin County Lady Husky Cross Country team was hungry for medals as they headed to the Mid-Penn Championships and Tim Cook Memorial races in Newville, PA. In the end the 14 runners that participated came home with 6 medals.

The Varsity team secured a 7th place finish among 17 AAA teams and was led by Adeline Leason (20:50) and Addie Parson (21:04). Adeline’s 30th place and Addie’s 32nd place finish was enough to secure Mid Penn Championship medals. They continue to run strong for our team and have their eyes on Districts which will take place on October 29on our home course. I would love to see both of them qualify to head to states on November 5 in Hershey.
The JV runners prepare to run in the Tim Cook Memorial race. Audrey Adams, Kennadi Bauman, Alexis Anderson, Rachael Saldubehere, Sarah Diehl, Caroline Palopoli, Ava Kratzer, Maya Morgan (left to right).
Amilia Coffey is closing in on our top 2 as well running a PR today at 21:30. What I love about Amila is that she is talented, determined, and a hard worker. She has “the whole package” when it comes to developing as a runner and I am excited to see her continue developing. Rounding out the scoring was Ava Harris (22:59) and Justice Sheaffer (23:09). Their strong finishes were critical for us to place as high as we did as a team.
The taste of accomplishment! Adeline Leason, Sarah Diehl, Alexis Anderson, Rachael Saldubehere (left to right).
In the Tim Cook Memorial Race athletes competed for medals by grades. Alexis Anderson led the team with a PR of 24:33 which was enough to secure a medal in the Sophomore class. Alexis looked great today and ran a super race on a fairly difficult course. She has continued to develop well throughout the season and is seeing the results of sticking with it despite also playing field hockey. Second for the JV girls was Kennadi Bauman running a 25:50 and Ava Kratzer was right behind her at 25:58. Also securing medals for their classes was Sarah Diehl (Senior), Rachael Saldubehere (Junior), and Kennadi Bauman (Junior).
Mid Penn Championship medalists! Addie Parson and Adeline Leason.
The next meet will be the last home meet of the season on Thursday, October 20 against multiple schools. It is also senior night. This race will be a final “tune-up” for the District 6 meet on October 29.
