MC girls notch yet another win, tops Palmyra

PALMYRA – The winning streak continues for the MIfflin County girls basketball team.

Wednesday the Lady Huskies played the role of road warriors topping Palmyra by 14, 54-40.

Captain Marissa Gingrich led the soaring Huskies with 24.

Teammate Amelia Leister helped provide a 1-2 punch for MIfflin County posting 11.
“Tonight was a solid and comfortable road win, as we led by as many as 19 with a few minutes to play,” said MIfflin County coach Aaron Gingrich. “We started off a little sluggish, but once we upped the tempo, good things started to happen.”

The Cougars were led by Emma Sibbach with 14.

Following up Sibbach’s 14 was Keely. Bowers with 10.

Palmyra came out and took the first quarter lead at 13-10.

But the Lady Huskies rallied back in the second. It’s defense clamped down on the Cougars as their offense outscored Palmyra 17-9.

Going into the intermission, MIfflin County held a 27-24 advantage.

Mifflin County’s big quarter came in the third period. The Lady Huskies tallied 20 points in the stanza while the Cougars managed only 10.

As the two went into the final quarter with MIfflin County leading 47-34.

Despite the Cougars posting eight points in the quarter, MIfflin County countered with seven to secure the victory.
