Mid-Penn Championships
Mifflin County Track and Field competed in the Mid-Penn Championships at Chambersburg Area High School today. The boys’ team scored 28 points to take 11th place out of 30 teams. Carter Smith placed first in the 1600m run with a school and meet record breaking time of 4:04.26. Connor Lynch, Wyatt Kauffman, Reese Cubbison and Carter Smith competed in the boys 4×800 team to take first place with a season-best time of 8:00.21. Wyatt Kauffman also scored by taking second-place in the 800 with a time of 1:57.28.
All of the Husky athletes performed well today. Qualifying for the meet is an accomplishment in itself. The girls 4×800 team of Ava Kratzer, Ava Wagner, Libby Cook and Mis Coffey brought in a 12th place finish in 10:33.5. Aidan Scavitti ran a PR time of 10:17.22, placing 15th in the event. Michael McNitt performed well in the hurdles, running 15.74 in the 110s for 10th place and 41.77 in the 300s for 9th place. Ava Kratzer ran a solid 2:30.57 in the 800. Mia Coffey laid it all on the track to finish the 3200 in 12:44.69 in a pretty hot race. Reece Bell threw one of his top season marks of 157’ 6” in javelin, placing ninth in the event. Trevan Diven had a great sprint day, running the 400 in 42.58 and the 200 in 23.58. Jumpers Annie Hartzler, Addie Ross and Ethan Plank had solid marks for the day, setting themselves up nicely for next week.
