MC boys XCteam sends three to Hershey

REEDSVILLE – Saturday, the MIfflin County boys cross country team finished its District 6 Class AAA championship in fine fashion.

The Huskies had three runners pinch their ticket to the “Sweetest place on Earth”, Hershey to compete for PIAA State gold.

Carter Smith continues his historical season posting a first place time of 15:24.60.

Mifflin County finished second overall with a 50 point performance. The Huskies trailed only winner State College in team scoring.

“It’s rare that a team can execute a plan perfectly. Of course, in a perfect world we win as a team. It wasn’t enough to do that yesterday, but every single runner gave everything they had on the day,” said Mifflin County coach Alex Monroe.”It was truly an amazing season for this young team.”

Teammates joining Smith on their trip to Hershey is Wyatt Kauffman and Reese Cubbison.

Kauffman finished in eighth place overall with a time of 16:22.00.

Cubbison, who is making a return to states, finished in 10th place with a time of 16:36.

“I am thrilled to be sending Carter Smith, Wyatt Kauffman, and Reese Cubbison to the state meet on Saturday in Hershey,” said Monroe.

Hart Oden finished 15th overall with a time of 17:18.30.

Hoyt Rodenbaugh came in 21st place with a mark of 17:33.10.

Teammate Aidan Scavitti finished in the 25th spot posting a time of 17:42.30.

Rounding out the Huskies runners was Koy Aurand who placed 31st with a mark of 17:55.10.
