The Mifflin County Boys’ Cross Country team travelled to the Carlisle Invitational on Saturday morning. Racing in the large schools’ “Challenge” division the Huskies ended up 30th in the 46 team field. 1080 boys finished various races on the day. In the “Challenge” division there were 426 finishers.
Leading the day for the locals was Conrad Coffey, 109th (17:34). Caden Bell was 132 (17:48), Cody Fultz 136 (17:49), Styers Oden 199 (18:00), Hart Oden 199 (18:25), Luke Breneman 221 (18:44), and Maxwell Laudermilch 266 (19:37).
“This was by far the best effort of the season and the times dropped. Everyone either pr-ed or had a season best. Although the boys were running hard in the previous meets, we weren’t happy with the results. We tried some different things this week and the performances improved. Conrad, Caden and Cody were all under 18 minutes, Styers continues to drop time, Hart ran a great number five man for us dropping the 1-5 split to only 51 seconds. Luke is back under 19 and Max ran a nice race.
We only had two in the JV race with Cameron Barben 19:42 and Nathan Goss 25:28. Cam and Nathan are both new to XC this year and are getting faster at each outing. Cam broke 20 for the first time and Nathan dropped 3 minutes from his previous best. We had a good day!”
