LEWISTOWN – Wednesday, the Mifflin County Boys Soccer team clashed with Gettysburg in a primetime showdown at Kish Bank Field at Donald Chapman Stadium.

Gettysburg drew the advantage in the first half with 11 shots on goal but couldn’t push any points across the Warriors came close a few times on good looks from Ryan Cunningham,Giovanni Hernandez but on the other end Jack Suydam was at his best defending his shots well on quality saves.

Suydam would only let one get by the whole game  and that would come off the foot of Hernandez. The shot would break our tie and give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage in the second half at the 15 minute mark of the second half.

Mifflin County hung tough and would respond right back on a goal from the star studded senior Dylan Liggett on senior night to even the score at 1-1 with 15:28 to go in regulation.

“Gettysburg, first of all, is a very disciplined and really good team,” said Mifflin County coach Keith Yoder. “They do not give up a ton of goals. Not a lot of goals get scored against them so for us to be down one and come back with that goal from Dylan Liggett meant a alot and going into our last game of the season and district play. We are excited for what’s to come this was a really good result for us against a quality team like

 Gettysburg.”

Two halves couldn’t decide both teams fate. The game would go into overtime. The Warriors still had the advantage with the amount of shots on goal they took but in part of Mifflin County’s stingy defense they would hold their own and keep Gettysburg off the board. Mifflin County would only have one shot on goal in the first overtime and the game would head into our second overtime.

MIfflin County would finally own the advantage in shooting but still were kept off the scoreboard. Mifflin County had good looks from Jace Bagrosky and Bruce Baker but the Dawgs couldn’t convert and the game would end in a draw 1-1. It would be a game where both teams battled. With the tie, Mifflin County did also clinch a postseason berth pryor to this evening’s game.
