UNIVERSITY PARK- The Mifflin County Indoor track and field team and Juniata squad returned to a familiar venue Wednesday as they competed at the State College Indoor Invitational #2 at Penn State University’s Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track.
It didn’t take long for the Huskies to capture a first place finish as the team Reese Cubbison, Wyatt Kauffman , Aidan Scavetti and Carter Smith finished with a first place time of 8:01.11 in the 4X800 – meter relay.
“We just had a very nice day. The kids came back from Kevin Dare a lot stronger then I thought they would so it was really nice,” said head coach Tamara Sechler. “I’m very excited about the 4×800 finishing with such a good time. Just a lot of kids all around getting their best for the season. Not only did we get good places but they did their best for the season.”
Kauffman also took top honors in the 800-meter run finishing in the top spot with a time of 2:03.36. Juniata’s Wyatt Stroup took fourth with a time of 2:07.52.
Styers Oden finished in 7th place with a showing of 2:08.80.
In the boys 60-meter hurdles, Michael McNitt finished with a second place finish for the Huskies posting a time of 8.87.
Teammate Brayden Stitt finished in ninth with a 9.96.
Things continued to roll for the Huskies as in the 60-yard dash, Madden Weaver finished 18th with a finishing time of 7.90.
Juniata runner Wyatt Stroup finished third in the mile run with a time of 4:33.64. Cubbison led the Huskies runners with a time of 4:47.30 good enough for an 11th place mark.
Teammate Hart Oden finished -5th with a final time of 4:54.02.
Mifflin County captured a top 10 finish in the 400-meter run as Camryn Treaster finished in 10th with a time of 56.09.
Teammate Trevan Diven placed 13th with a final time of 55.86.
Finishing the 200 -meter run for the Huskies was Brayden Benfer. Benfer finished 21st with a time of 26.03.
Also placing in the 200 was Madden Weaver with a 25th place finish time of 26.63.
In the 3000, Koy Aurand paced the Huskies with a fifth place finish time of 9:37.24. Aidan Scavitti finished 7th with a time of 9:45.44.
In the 4×200, the Huskies finished with a mark of 1:39.16 good enough for third place.
Rounding out the relays, the boys 4×400 relay team finished second third with a time of 3:36.44.
In the shot put, the Huskies Anthony Palopoli finished 16th with a best throw of 25’ 11”. Teammate Jackson Tate finished 18th with a throw of 24’ 2.50”.
Ethan Plank took a fourth place finish in the long jump posting a leap of 18’11.25.
On the girls’ side, MIfflin County got sixth place in the 4×800 relay. The team of Amilia Coffey, Abigail Anderson, Caroline Palopoli and Maya Morgan finished with a time of 11:17.65.
Danielle Warfel posted a fourth place finish in her event, the 60-meter hurdles. Warfel finished with a time of 10.42.
Warfel also finished strong in the 200 as she posted a ninth place finishing time of 28.64.
Madison Baumgardner rounded out the place winners in the hurdles with an 11th place time of 11.69.
In the 60-meter dash, Mifflin County runner Alleigh Caruso finished with a mark of 9.02 good enough for a 16th place finish.
Liberty Cook shined for the Huskies in the mile run finishing in 10th place with a time of 5:52.05.
Teammate Abigail Anderson finished strong at 14 with a finishing mark of 6:10.49.
Juniata paced the locals in the 800-meter run as Sylvia Brubaker placed third with a time of 2:25.93.
Posting strong runs in the 3000 for the Lady Huskies were Ava Kratzer with a fifth place finish of 11.48.37 while Ava Wagner finished in seventh with a time of 12:21.56.
In the 4×200 relay team, the Lady Huskies finished fifth with a time of 1.58.36.
Rounding out the relays, the 4×400 squad finished with a fifth place time of 4:44.08.
On the field side of the competition, the MIfflin County girls were very active.
In the shot put, Mifflin County’s Madison Baumgardner finished in ninth place with a launch of 22’ 3”.
Competing in the long jump, the Huskies’ Taylor Kenepp placed 11th with a best leap of 13’ 11.75”. Rounding out the top 20 was teammate Sophia Heider who finished 19th with a jump of 10’4.25”
Rounding out the night in the triple jump was Maddie Clinard 11th place finish in the triple jump. Her finish was a leap of 29’ 0.75”.
