LEWISTOWN — It was not how Mifflin County wanted to start its season, but despite its best efforts, the Huskies were defeated by Susquenita, 2-0, in bocce ball action on Wednesday afternoon.

Things were pretty even throughout the opening frame of the match as both teams were looking to find the edge. Ultimately it was the Blackhawks who managed to take the first frame scoring a point to go ahead 1-0.

However, the Huskies responded with a big second frame as Reese Moore, Jocelynne Clark, Keagan Van Brunt-Hampton and Marley Cole powered the Huskies to scoring three points in the frame to take a 3-1 lead.

But Susquenita responded in the third frame where the Blackhawks evened things up at three apiece by scoring two points in the frame.

Mifflin County answered with a point during the fourth frame before the Blackhawks scored three more points within the final two frames to win the first match 6-4.

Then during the second match of the evening, Mifflin County and Susquenita traded the first two frames making the score 1-1.

But then in the third frame was when things started going crazy offensively. The Blackhawks went off and dropped all four points to make it a 5-1 game.

Mifflin County did not budge and answered with a four pointer of its own and even the score at five apiece.

But in the final two frames of the match, Susquenita finished it off scoring eight points to take game two by the final of 13-5.

Mifflin County (0-1) will return to action on Jan. 5 at Southern Huntingdon.
