Monday, East Juniata air rifle team traveled to Governor Mifflin for an air rifle match and EJ was defeated, 494-474. 2nd year shooter, junior, Kolten Martin was the high scorer for EJ with 96. Senior, Drew Smith, junior–Trent Robinson and Junior Cole Brubaker each shot 95 for second through 4th place while freshman Remington Shirk shot 93.
Governor Mifflin’s highest scorers were James Gossert with a 100, Jay Schoenes, 99, Anya Zaldo, 99, Brady Detwiler, 98 and Emily Hammer, 98.
“I am extremely proud of how hard these young men and women worked this season–and it was really David vs Goliath with some of the long-established and experienced teams we went up against,” said East Juniata coach Danny Reed. “The kids faced the challenge head on, did their best and I believe, had some fun while doing it.”
This was the final scheduled match for East Juniata who finished the season with a record of 0-4 in their PIAA debut season. The top 10 season shooters of the team will be going to the Pairs Tournament on Friday, Feb 3 in Palmyra.
