Malaina Maxwell collected three hits in four at bats, as Mifflin County defeated West Perry 15-0 on Thursday. Maxwell doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning.
The Huskies got on the board in the top of the third inning after Jalee Bodtorf singled, scoring one run, Carly Dickson grounded out, scoring one run, Macy Pietzsch singled, scoring one run, Layla Osman singled, scoring one run, Riley Hine doubled, scoring two runs, and Falynn Reinard singled, scoring one run.
Mifflin County scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Maxwell singled, scoring one run, Pietzsch singled, scoring two runs, Hine drew a walk, scoring one run, Reinard doubled, scoring two runs, and Bodtorf singled, scoring one run.
Pietzsch earned the win for Mifflin County. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Addie Wiest took the loss for West Perry. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits, striking out one and walking two.
The Lady Huskies accumulated 16 hits in the game. Pietzsch, the number eight hitter for Mifflin County, led the way with four runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-4 on the day. Reinard went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Mifflin County Varsity Huskies in hits. Maxwell and Bodtorf each collected multiple hits for Mifflin County. Osman paced the Huskies with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Mifflin County Varsity turned one double play in the game.
Rylann Kelly and Haley Prowell each collected one hit for West Perry.
Mifflin County Varsity Huskies play at home on Monday against State College in their next game.
