Lucas Peterson drove in four runs on three hits to lead Philipsburg-Osceola past Clearfield 9-3 on Monday. Peterson singled in the third scoring two, doubled in the first scoring one, and tripled in the sixth scoring one.

The Bison opened the scoring in the first after O’Brian Owens grounded out, scoring one run.

Peterson doubled to right field, which helped the Mountaineers tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Clearfield took the lead in the top of the third. Owens hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give the Bison the advantage, 2-1.

A single by Peterson gave Philipsburg-Osceola the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the third.

Archer Baughman earned the win for the Mountaineers. The righty surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out six and walking one. Craig Mays took the loss for Clearfield . The righty went three innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking five. Zach Yoder appeared in relief for Philipsburg-Osceola.

The Mountaineers amassed nine hits in the game. Baughman collected two hits for Philipsburg-Osceola in three at bats. Parker Lamb paced the Mountaineers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. The Mountaineers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Connor Matier had the most chances in the field with nine.

Owens led Clearfield with two runs batted in.  Kamden Kushner set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Boson with two hits in three at bats.

Next up for Philipsburg-Osceola is a game at Penns Valley on Wednesday.
