Local fare well at Annual King of the Mountain Tournament

MILL HALL – The King of the Mountain Tournament recently concluded Saturday at Central Mountain High School.

Taking the team title with 156 points in the two-day event was Montoursville.

Central Mountain finished a close second with 142.

Rounding out the top five was Altoona (137.5), State College (123) and MIfflin County (118)

Other local teams that finished were

Bald Eagle Area in 10th place (103.5) and a 15th place finish by Bellefonte (89).

Starting at 107, Shaler Area’s Anthony Jones narrowly defeated Mifflin County’s Andrew Alexander Dec 4-2.

In the battle for third, West Allegheny’s Michael Johnson Montoursville’s Branden Eisenhour by a 4-3 decision.

In Fifth, Kai Maxwell from Greater Latrobe defeated Luis Moya via a Forfeit.

Rounding out things in seventh place was Williamsport’s Jordan Piselli who cranked out a 14-3 Major decision over Dominic Nardozza from Altoona.

At 114, State College’s  Kael Davis defeated local Central Mountain grappler Gavin Heverly in a thrilling 2-1 victory to take the title.

In the third place contest, Phil Montes of Cumberland Valley blanked Cranberry’s  Aiden Thompson by major decision 13-0.

Capturing the fifth place nod was the Little Lions Noah Young shut out Brody Bronson of Greater Latrobe 6-0.

Finally in the seventh place bout,

Central York’s Harris Keares won by a 8-1 decision over Warrior Runs’ Chase Wirnsberger.

Line Mountain captured the 121-pound weight class as Brock Rothermel won his bout with Easton Mull of Chestnut Ridge by major decision 10-2.

In the battle for third Altoona’s Deklan Barr muscled his way to a hard fought 6-4 win over Parkland’s  Matthew Velez.

In the battle for the fifth place spot, Aristotlis Bobotas of Montoursville topped Boyertown’s Brody Coleman by a 7-1 decision.

In the match for seventh, Pierce Reinhart of Bethel Park easily defeated Braden Wivell of Northern York by a 16-3 major decision.

Going into 127, Chestnut Ridge’s Dominic Deputy took home the title with  a 4-1  decision over Dalton Wenner (Cranberry).

Altoona took the battle for 3rd when Braiden Weaver (Altoona) topped Aiden Kunes (Central Mountain) 4-2.

Bald Eagle took the fifth spot when  Tanner Guenot (Bald Eagle Area) muscled out a hard fought battle against Jackson Orrell (Red Lion) 5-4.

Rounding out the weight class for 7th was Connor Killion (Cumberland Valley) defeating Luke Magnani (Boiling Springs) in a thrilling 9-7 contest.

Bald Eagle battled for the top spot at the 133-pound weight class but it would be Greater Latrobe’s Luke Willochell that would capture the top spot defeating Caden Judice by a technical fall 17-2 at 4:49.

Battling for the third place position, Collier Hartman (Canon McMillan) battled and escaped the win of a 3-2 victory over David Kennedy (Montoursville).

In the fifth place battle at 133. Drew Scherer (Boiling Springs) took care of Seth Miller (Bethel Park) by a 10-3 decision.

Placing seventh was AJ Snatchko of West Allegheny shutting out Wyatt Long of Bellefonte 4-0.

Elijah Brosius (Cranberry) took care of the first place spot at 129. Brosius topped Blaize Vogel (Montoursville) by a major decision 22-8.

The third place spot belonged to Beck Babb (Boyertown) as he won a nail biting battle against Kamden Everly (Mifflin County) 6-4.

In fifth place, Dawson Lomison (Bald Eagle Area) grinded out a close 2-1 victory over Patrick Tarantella (Central Mountain).

In the battle for the 7th place spot it was Mason Harvey (Red Lion) capturing the 4-0 decision over Aden Stout (Bethel Park) 4-0.

Central Mountain’s Dalton Perry captured the win at 145.

Perry pinned Jacob Mitchell (Cumberland Valley) by fall at 1:53.

In the 3rd place battle, Ian Longenberger (Boiling Springs) topped Gavin Ciampoli (Altoona) 7-5.

Topping the 5th place spot was Clay Kimmy (General McLane) defeating Ian Bucheli (Bethel Park) by a 10-1 major decision.

Placing in 7th, Dane Wenner (Cranberry) defeated Nolan Savage (Line Mountain) 7-2.

In finals at 152, Ezra Swisher (Bellefonte) defeated James Whitbred (State College) by a forfeit.

Coming in third was Dalton Schadel (Line Mountain) topping Owen Dykie (Boyertown) 6-1.

Fifth place belonged to Ethan Higgins (Bethel Park) as he topped Wylan Damon (Red Lion)sporting the medial forfeit.

Rounding things out in the 7th place match was Nathaniel Replogle (Central York) defeating the Huskies  Colby Seiler by a fall at 3:00.

In the championship match at 160,

Reagan Milheim (Warrior Run) won in grand fashion 4-1 as he defeated Luke Sipes (Altoona).


General McLane’s Hudson Spires collected a shut out over Bellefonte’s Noah Weaver 7-0.

Fifth place belonged to Hayden Harvey (Montoursville) on this night. Harvey pinned Tony Ceriani (Brookville) by fall at 2:40.

Finally in the 7th place match, Nieco Fratelli (Northern York) topped off  Carter Stouch (Boyertown) by a 15-0 technical fall at 4:27.

State College added some team points at 172-pounds when Asher Cunningham won by a 20-12 major decision over Max Wirnsberger (Warrior Run).

Placing in 3rd was Gage Wentzel of Montoursville as he defeated AJ Corp of West Chester Rustin 11-4.

Bellefonte’s Jackson Long placed fifth as he earned a 9-4 decision over Boyertown’s JD Heiser 9-4.

The 7th place spot was captured by Gabe Johnson (Northern York) as he notched a convincing 12-3 victory over Derek Dube of General McLane.

Coming into the 189-pound championship, it was a Greater Latrobe versus Bald Eagle Area battle when  Hunter Snyder (Greater Latrobe) topped Caleb Close (Bald Eagle Area 10-5).

Mifflin County captured the third place finish. Avery Aurand (Mifflin County) collected a hard fought 4-1 decision over Brookville’s Easton.

In the battle for fifth, Tyler Ulrich (Warrior Run) won by medical forfeit over McFarland (Pottsville Area).

Seventh place belonged to local matman Bryce Brungard (Central Mountain) as he defeated Christopher Toth (Parkland) by a 10-2 major decision.

Coming into 215-pounds, Brookville’s

Kolton Griffin picked up a dominating 16-0 technical fall win over Brayden Collins Canon McMillan at 4:46 for the top spot.

In third place, Isaiah Betz from Warrior Run won a 10-2 major over Shaler Area’s Vito Barravechio.

Coming in 5th place was Mountain Lion Michael Colyer of Altoona. Colyer bested Bethel Park’s Hunter Goelz 3-0.

Rounding out the 215-weight class in 7th place was Shaler’s Trevor Cignetti. Cignetti pinned Line Mountain’s Jacob Schwalm at 1:59.

Finally in the 285- pound weight class, Gavin Hannah from Brookville mustered a close 4-1 win in the finals over Mifflin County’s Payten Kearns.

Wrestling for third,  Landon Morehart of Montoursville topped Frank Barrientos from Chambersburg 7-1.

In the battle for firth, West Allegheny notched the win as Cam Danna defeated Bald Eagle Area’s Gage Gardner by a medical forfeit.

Finally in the 7th place match, Bethel Park’s Michael Gibson won in sudden victory  4-1 over Greater Latrobe’s Marco Scarton.
