The LHU lacrosse team fell to Mercyhurst today in PSAC West action.
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University lacrosse team (4-3, 1-2 PSAC West) fell to visiting Mercyhurst University (5-2, 2-1 PSAC West) 16-9 this afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
Krysta Reading (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) led Lock Haven with three goals.
Caitlin Morrow (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and Zoe Waddell (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) each scored twice.
Both Campbell Brant (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) and Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/ Strongsville) scored once for Lock Haven. Morrow dished out a pair of assists to help pace the LHU offensive effort.
Lock Haven goalkeeper Lauren Girardi (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) made 10 saves and defender Madison Lapiana (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Farmingdale) scooped up five ground balls.
Rounding out the notable individual stat lines for Lock Haven was Reading who had three draw controls and Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) who had three ground balls.
Victoria Gottoroff led Mercyhurst with a game-high five goals.
Mercyhurst led 9-1 after the first quarter, but the Bald Eagles used six second-quarter goals to get right back into the contest. The visitors led 13-7 at halftime, and the Lakers used that strong first-half performance to carry them to the divisional win over Lock Haven.
