Late result: State College loses heartbreaker to Cumberland Valley in five sets

STATE COLLEGE – Wednesday night, the State College girls volleyball team found itself in a cliff hanger against Cumberland Valley.

In the season opener, fans got their money’s worth as the teams went the entire five games before the Eagles took the contest 3-2.

Cumberland Valley took the win with scores of 13-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-23.

Kate Lally paced things for State College with 23 assists, while teammate Jessie Campbell added 10.

Sophie Wales helped lead the offense with 13 kills while Ashlyn Arnold and Campbell added seven each, while Sarah Tate and Kate Lally rounded things out with  six apiece.

From the service line, Brynn Lally and Kate Lally each had 2 aces.

Defensively, Molly Thompson tallied 29 digs. Brynn Lally added 15, while Kate Lally and Campbell each had 14.
