Late highlights: Philipsburg-Osceola outlasts Clearfield

Holding on for the “W”!!

The Philipsburg-Osceola baseball team cranked out a 5-1 advantage against Clearfield and held on late for the 6-4 victory.

Brandon Hahn sparked the offense at the bottom of the line up to finish with a 3-for-3 with a double.

Jeremy Whitehead had a 2-for-3 night at the plate, scoring a run.

Colby Hahn led the team with two RBIs.

Dave Meersand notched the victory for the Mounties. He finished with a six inning allowing one run, one hit and five strikeouts.

Picking up the save was Nick Coudriet.

After a scoreless three innings, Philipsburg-Osceola played four in the fourth.

With one out, Parker White singled on a line drive past the shortstop.

Hahn followed when he reached on an error while White advanced to 3rd.

The Mounties scored their first run when Meersand doubled on a line drive to left . White scored and Hahn advanced to 3rd.

Jamey Massung grounded out to shortstop allowing Hahn to score. Meersand advanced to 3rd.

DeSimone singled on a line drive to right allowing Meersand to score.

Hahn doubled on a grounder to left field. DeSimone advanced to 3rd on the play.

Ben Gustkey smashed  a grounder and reached on an error by the Bison third baseman allowing Jake DeSimone to scored. Hahn advanced and moved up to third.

In the fifth, the Mounties were back at again in the fifth, scoring what would be the winning run.

Whitehead started things with a walk.

He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Hahn.

The Bison came back in the bottom of the inning with a run, making it a 5-1 advantage.

Philipsburg-Osceola added a run in the top of the seventh and was able to hold in the bottom of the inning despite Clearfield posting three runs.
