Late Friday score: State College keeps season alive, tops Clearfield

CLEARFIELD – Battling through a 9-run Clearfield fourth inning, the State College 12-year old all-star softball shook off the inning and in the end rallied to take home the 22-12 road win.

The State College offense blistered the ball for 16 hits in the contest while allowing Clearfield only seven in the victory.

Marissa Yoder highlighted the contest with a home run.

Kate Gilmore and Kaitlyn McShea paced the team both posting three hits each in the contest.

McShea led the team with RBIs with two.

Picking up two hits for State were Victoria Witmer, Elin Fry, Marissa Yoder and Harper Kaminsky.

Picking up the win for the Little Lions was Kaitlyn McShea.

State College led of the scoring in the contest, plating six in the first inning.

Clearfield battled back with two in the bottom of the inning.Both teams remained scoreless through the second and third innings.

State College went up 7-2 on a run in the top of the fourth.

Back roared Clearfield as it rallied to take the lead 11-7 after a 9-run explosion in the bottom of the inning.

But the Little Lions kept to its game and kept their heads in the game and would outscore the Clearfield team 15-1 the rest of the way to keep its season alive.
