Lady Raiders rule!! Takes home tournament title

Coming of age!

When looking back at season, the Bellefonte softball team might look back and see that this past weekend’s tournament in Williamsport might be the moment that the young team progressed to just a team looking to make a charge at the Mountain League and District 6 title, especially winning the weekend tourney and taking the championship.

Coming into the tournament, the Red Raiders sported a 2-3 record.

But with wins over Montoursville on Friday and Williamsport Saturday Morning, the Lady Raiders found themselves in the Championship game against Loyalsock.

Bellefonte saved their best for last as the proved to be cool under pressure topping their opponent 14-2 to capture the championship and up their record to 5-3.

Bellefonte exploded offensively for 18 hits and 14 runs.

Picking up the victory on the day was Josselyn Nau . Nau went five, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Highlighting the game was offensive explosion in the second inning where the Red Raiders played six.

But the Lady Raiders opened the game posting two in the first.

Bellefonte Varsity Lady Raiders got things moving in the first inning, when Josselyn Nau singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Lady Raiders offensive was led by Tori Reichert, Taylor Brown, Jaylee Lose, and Madison Ripka, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Bellefonte Varsity Lady Raiders totaled 16 hits in the game.  Nau, Sienna Barnhart, Reichert, Brown, and Madison Melius each racked up multiple hits for Bellefonte.  Nau went 3-for-3 at the plate to pace her team.
