Lady Little Lions lose in heartbreaking fashion to CV

The State College Lady Lions  fell to Cumberland Valley Varsity Eagles 2-1 on Monday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at one with Cumberland Valley batting in the bottom of the seventh when Sydney May singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Eagles pitchers struck out 11, while the Lady Lions sat down six.

In the top of the fourth inning, State College tied things up at one when Ava Babcock singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

May pitched Cumberland Valley to victory. The righthander went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out 11 and walking one.

Addison Harpster took the loss for State College . The righthander allowed five hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out six.

Sydney Wells, Harpster, and Babcock all had one hit to lead the Lady Lions.

Cumberland Valley tallied five hits on the day. May and Annika Shearer all managed multiple hits for the Eagles. Cumberland Valley didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ady Machemer had the most chances in the field with 11.
