LEWISTOWN – Mifflin County welcomed in River Valley from Pittsburgh on Mini Thon Gold Out day for Mifflin County and the Lady Huskies.
Mifflin County stuck with the Panthers throughout the game keeping it close at one point it was an eight-point game.
However, River Valley would slowly pull away defeating Mifflin County 64-44 the Panthers remain unbeaten.
Mifflin County would start out strong Jayda Kanagy would get a steal on Ava Persichetti miscue but it would not lead to points.
River Valley would get on the board first on a Kenady Kitner three pointer to give the Panthers a 3-0 advantage.
Mifflin County would match that on a draining three-pointer from Kanagy.
Payton Weaver led Mifflin County in scoring today for her team knocking down three three pointers totaling 13 points in Saturday’s loss.
“The final score does not indicate how close the game was. It was a nine point game with three minutes to go,and they went on a little run and them we had started chasing the game and fouling a little bit,” said Mifflin County Coach Aaron Gingrich. “They are 14-0 for a reason. They are a contender for the 3A state Championship and No. 4 who committed to Richmond is a very nice player. That being said I was very impressed with our effort to meet. We changed some things up defensively and our kids executed for the most part. Great River Valley does a nice job in transition,so we have to do better job of getting back on defense. But overall i thought the effort was good. We did have some girls knock down some shots Maelyn (Gingrich), Jalee (Bodtorf) and Peyton Weaver. Mackenzie Peachey did a great job on the Richmond recruit. She only had about 15 points when the game mattered and then had some junk points at the end.”
Jalee Bodtorf had nine points while knocking down three three pointers Gincrich had two three pointers for six points.
River Valley was impressive tonight three players were in double figures. The talented Perschietti had 22 total points. Kitner wasn’t far behind she had 20 to go along with four three pointers. Alessia LaMantia had 13 on the evening.
