Oct 13, 2022

After playing Penns Valley to a 2-2 2OT tie on Tuesday, the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team went up against a feisty Huntingdon team.

The Eagles once again went into overtime before a winner was crowned. It would be Bald Eagle pulling out a 2-1 win.

Huntingdon had the advantages on shots on goal (9-7) and corners (5-2).

BEA goalie Angie Grieb had eight saves.

Huntingdon led off the scoring when Abigail Steiner scored on an unassisted goal at 20:46.

In the second, the Lady Eagles knotted things up at one when Sybil Thompson took a pass from Adrienne Hacker and sent it through the net at 56:56.

In the first overtime, Thompson had the answer once again, posting a goal at 81:30 in overtime.

“What a gritty, gutsy performance tonight. 2 overtime game in one week is tough and these girls are so resilient and have so much heart. They dug in deep and pulled out a win,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “Sybil Thompson was everywhere tonight and made a huge impact on the game. She never stopped hustling and was in the perfect place to hit the game winner in OT.”

The win improves its Record to 10-4-1 overall and 7-4-1 in the Mountain League.

Next Game is October 17 vs Tyrone.
