An old rivalry was revisited Monday as the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team met up with old Mountain League foe Penns Valley.
The game would be a close on until the end, as the Lady Rams took home the victory, 5-4.
Penns Valley outshot the Lady Eagles 23-13.
Bald Eagle Area led in corners by a 6-2 margin.
BEA goalie Cami Walker finished with 18 saves while Penns Valley’s Emma Marks finished with nine.
“The game was back and forth for the first 10 minutes, but we had some defensive breakdowns that cost us and we were down 4-2 at one point. We battled back to make it 4-3 at the half and tied it at 4 early in the second half,” said Bald Eagle coach Jared Moore. “Abby Hacker and Maddy Jones led the midfield, sending balls to Savanna Albright and Addie Tice, who worked their tails off creating scoring chances and sinking them. Cami Walker was outstanding between the pipes, making 5 or 6 diving saves, including saving a breakaway. In the end, too many defensive miscues and trouble clearing the ball hurt us, as well as the speed of the Penns Valley forwards.”
Bald Eagle scored first on a Savanna Albright goal with the assist coming from Addison Tice at 3:39.
Penns Valley tied things on a goal by Elle Dinges at 7:11.
Penns Valley scored again as Ellie Romig posted a blast at 8:02.
The Lady Eagles closed it to a 3-2 contest on another Tice goal at 10:06.
The Rams scored on consecutive goals by K.Fetterolf (21:11) and
Elle Dinges (21:41).
Bald Eagle battles back when Madison Donley scored off an Addison Tice assist at 39:06.
Tice tied the contest at 51:15.
In the end, Penns Valley’s Ellie Romig hit the winning goal at 76:29.
BEA falls to 1-5.
The Lady Eagles next game is Wednesday at Huntingdon.
