Lady Bearcats outlast Bald Eagle on softball diamond

Alivia Nicklow was dominant in the circle, as the starting pitcher rang up 14 strikeouts in Huntingdon Varsity Bearcats’s 4-1 victory over Bald Eagle Area on Thursday. Nicklow gave up four hits and one run over seven innings while walking two.

Huntingdon Varsity Bearcats were the first to get on the board in the second when Leah Beck homered to right field, scoring two runs.

Bald Eagle Area scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Sydney Thompson.

Sierra Albright started in the circle for Bald Eagle Area. The hurler gave up nine hits and four runs over six innings, striking out 13 and walking none.


Nicklow and Emmah Royer were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Huntingdon Varsity Bearcats.

Beck, the number eight hitter for Huntingdon Varsity Bearcats, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day.

Kailey Eckert, Thompson, Raelee Repasky, and Malee Yoder each collected one hit for Bald Eagle Area. Thompson went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Albright threw an immaculate inning in the fifth, striking out the side on nine pitches.
