WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Head Coach Kelly Shannon recorded her 347^th career victory after the Lock Haven softball team earned a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division split at West Chester (23-15, 11-8 PSAC East) on Sunday afternoon (April 14). The Bald Eagles took game one, 3-1, before falling in the nightcap, 5-3.

The Bald Eagles (13-21, 9-13 PSAC East) won their 13^th game of the year on Sunday, moving Shannon’s career total to 347 to break Kelly Green’s previous record of 346 at the helm of the Bald Eagles.

With the victory in game one, the Bald Eagles move into a tie for sixth place in the PSAC East, trailing by one slot in the win column for the fifth and final postseason spot.

The Haven is now 2-2 through four games of its six-game homestand.

Game 1 Recap: Lock Haven 3, West Chester 1

In game one, the Bald Eagles were led by starting pitcher Madison Wolfgang (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County), who tossed a complete-game gem, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out three.

After three scoreless innings by both offenses to start the game, Summer Peters (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) blasted her team-leading fourth home run of the season to put Lock Haven on top, 1-0.

Peters wasn’t done there, as she doubled in two more runs in the top of the sixth to extend the Bald Eagle lead to 3-0.

Wolfgang allowed her lone run in the bottom of the sixth, but shut the door from there to seal the Lock Haven victory.

Peters finished 3-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBIs to lead the way for The Haven on offense. Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy) added a triple.

Game 2 Recap: West Chester 5, Lock Haven 3

In game two, West Chester plated a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to build an early lead.

Lock Haven rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the third to knot the score at 2-2 thanks to RBI-singles by McClellan and Bella Schmitt (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern York).

However, West Chester regained the advantage with a run in the fifth, before adding two insurance runs in the sixth.

Lock Haven cut the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the seventh off a West Chester mishap, but the Golden Rams shut the door from there.

Three different Bald Eagles recorded hits.

Faith Persing (Montgomery, Pa./Bloomsburg) continues to pitch well for The Haven and turned in another quality start, going five-complete innings and allowing two earned runs.
