MIFFLINTOWN – In their season opener, the Juniata boys wrestling squad fell to Midd-West 43.0 – 28.0 at Juniata high school.
The match started at 107 pounds. Midd-West’s Mason Kerstetter picked up the forfeit win.
The same happened at 114, when the Mustang’s Dylan Klingler also won by forfeit.
Midd-West quickly went up 18-0 as the Mustangs Lane Yount won by forfeit at 121.
At 127, Juniata’s Anthony Maradiaga cut the lead to 12 as he pinned Michael Viafore at 1:46.
Midd-West got back on the scoreboard at 133 as Witten Carter muscled out a tough 7-4 decision over Logan Troyer.
Back came the Indians at 139. Cody Nipple pinned RJ Wilt at 1:30.
145-pounder Colton Aumiller extended the Mustang’s lead picking a major decision over Ty Fahnestock 14-3.
Midd-West also notched the win a 152 as Matthew Smith won by fall at 0:57 over Koy Kerstetter.
At 160, Juniata cut back into the Midd-West lead when Ryder Smith won by a major decision over Evan Maneval 8-0.
However, the Mustangs were not going to give up the lead that easy. While at 172 pounds, Grant Yount pinned Derrick Aurand at 1:35.
The Indians got back on track at 189 when Conrad Long pinned Jared Devine at 1:42.
At 215, Midd-West won by another forfeit as Finn Dressler picked up the victory.
Rounding out the night at 285, Juniata’s Kelton Bonnell won by fall over Barry Penepacker at 0:33.
