MIFFLINTOWN- Tuesday marked the dawning of a new era in Juniata girls basketball as former Lewistown High School standout and new Lady Indians’ coach Hannah Geedey brought her group into the 2024-25 season to battle Mifflinburg.
Her debut was a successful one as the Lady Indians defeated the Wildcats 43-31.
Leading the scoring for Juniata was Mylee Landis who finished with a game-high 20 points.
Regan Lowrey also finished in double figures, posting 14 points.
Mifflinburg struck first as they had the hot hand in the first, doubling up Juniata 12-6.
The Lady Indians warmed up in second on the play of Lowrey’s 6-point effort.
When the intermission got underway the Indians led 21-17.
The shift in the momentum stayed on the Indians’ side as they outscored the Wildcats 22-14 in the second half to secure themselves an opening night win and the first in the coaching career for Geedey.
