Juniata girls hang tough, falls late to CM

SPRING MILLS – The Juniata girls battled in their opening round contest against Central Mountain.

However, the Wildcats muscled it out late taking the contest 46-38 Wednesday at the Ram Winter Jam held at Penns Valley High School.

Juniata was led on the night by Regan Lowrey with 24. Lowrey was a force to be reckoned with from beyond the arc as she hit four triples.

Teammate Ava Shearer followed with seven.

Central Mountain got off to a strong start, outscoring Juniata 13-12.

However, the Indians would battle back in the second outscoring the Wildcats 23-21 in the first half.

But the Wildcats went into the final period trailing by one at 30-29 heading into the final stanza.

Central Mountain scored 17 in its fourth quarter to take home the victory.
