MIFFLINTOWN — Juniata fell behind early and just could not overcome it in its 44-25 loss to Millersburg during the semifinals of the TVL girls basketball playoff on Tuesday.

It all happened during the opening period of the game. Juniata failed to get the shots to fall while Millersburg looked as though it couldn’t miss.

In fact, Juniata nearly had as many fouls in the period as it did points with scoring only four points for the quarter while having three team fouls in the frame.

But once Juniata settled things down, the offense began to click and were able to keep pace with Millersburg.

Millersburg was led by the duo of Jana Strait and Raegan Hale who both scored in double digits. Hale led with a game high of 14 points while Strait added another 13 points for the evening.

For Juniata, Regan Lowrey was the high scorer with nine points. Mylee Landis scored seven points for the night and was one of many Juniata players looking to battle it out with Millersburg big Emma Miller in the paint.

Juniata (11-12) will prepare for District play.
