It took two overtime periods but the Juniata girls basketball outlasted Newport 40-37 in a TVAA instant classic battle.

Mariska Beward led the offensive intensity posting 15.

Teammates Regan Lowrey and Haley Mummah finished with nine.

Mummah came up clutch for the Indians as she scored four in the 4th quarter and five in overtime.

It would be a late regular 12-2 fourth quarter scoring run by Juniata that would change the momentum against the Buffaloes Newport to take it to overtime.

Juniata fell behind at the half 16-12, giving the Buffaloes as 4-point cusion going into the third.

Newport added to its lead outscoring the Indians 12-6 to set up the Indians comeback.

It would be a 12-2 run that extended the game.

But in the second overtime, Juniata clamped down when they needed forcing the Buffaloes to just a point while they scored four en route to the win.
