Juniata falls to Lady Blackhawks in Monday softball action

Monday the Juniata Indians softball team had trouble keeping up with Susquenita in a 10-1 loss.

Susquenita got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Kylah Fleisher singled to center field, and Juniata committed an error, each scoring one run.

The Blackhawks scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ayahna Fleisher singled, scoring two runs, Lena Beckenbaugh doubled, scoring one run, a dropped third strike scored one run, and Addison Fritz singled, scoring one run.

Braelyn Prinz earned the win for Susquenita.

The pitcher surrendered four hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one. Destiny Yohn took the loss for the Lady Indians. The pitcher went four innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking three.

Savannah Marshall, Victoria Moore, Ava Lauver, and Regan Lowery each collected one hit for Juniata.

Beckenbaugh and Fleisher were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Susquenita. Beckenbaugh drove the middle of the lineup, leading Susquenita with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Prinz and Esther Feltenberger each stole multiple bases for the Blackhawks. Susquenita stole five bases in the game.

Next up for Juniata is a game at Line Mountain on Wednesday.
