What a weekend for the Juniata girls basketball team and floor leader Regan Lowrey.
Saturday, the Lady Indians defeated Halifax 59-30.
Lowrey finished the night with a game-high 25 points in the victory.
“Regan Lowrey had a heck of a Christmas tournament. 25 points last night and 19 points tonight. She is really showing her senior leadership on both sides of the floor,” said Juniata coach Hannah Geedey. “Both nights we started out slow but really stepped it up in the second half. We held Camp Hill to 7 points in the second half. Tonight we held Halifax to 9 in the second half. I am so proud of all the girls for the effort they put in!”
Teammate Mylee Landis followed with a strong 12-point effort to help her team as well.
From the beginning, Wildcats and Indians battled tough with Juniata barely outscoring Halifax 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.
Things remained close heading into the intermission as the Lady Indians outscored Halifax 11-9 to take a 24-21 advantage into the second half.
But in the third quarter, the Indians defense clamped down and put a stranglehold on the Halifax offense allowing only nine second half points en route to the 29-point win.
