Juniata boys hold strong, fend off Susquenita late

Back in the win column!

The Juniata boys basketball got back to its winning ways Tuesday as they defeated Susquenita in a TVAA contest.

Though it was a close score but the Indians came out on top 51-45.

Juniata was paced by an explosive offensive effort by Jasper Shepps who netted a game-high 23 points in the victory. Wyatt Stoner and teammate Grant Reinhold finished with seven points each.

The Blackhawks Derek Gibney led his team with 22 points.

Rounding out the scorers were Ryan Schoppy with eight and Austin Neiswender with seven.

Juniata opened the contest posting a 16-12 first quarter lead.

Offensively, the Indians offense continued to roll, posting 14 while its defense allowed only four.

Going into the intermission, the Indians led 30-16.

The third quarter belonged to Juniata as well, scoring a 14-10 period.

Susquenita battled back in the forth but it was too little too late as the Indians held on for the victory.
