Juniata girls and boys cross country teams competed in the TVAA Cross Country Championships on Tuesday, October 8 at Little Buffalo State Park. In the girls race, Sylvia Brubaker took charge from the gun and ran solo the rest of the way to take the win in a time of 20:54. Carolyn Heidenreich came in next for the Indians in 2nd place with a time of 23:02. Hannah Zeiders finished in 5th place with a time of 23:30. Next for the Indians was Hannah Book in 16th place with a time of 29:52. Rounding out the scoring for the Indians was Jessie Bomberger in 17th place with a time of 30:03.
Team scores – St. Joseph’s 29, Juniata 39, Newport 54, Upper Dauphin 96, and Susquenita didn’t have enough runner to score in the team competition.
“This was the first time we’ve had all five girls be able to run for us this year,” said Juniata coach Jeff Miller. “It was nice to have everyone there and they all ran very good. This is Sylvia’s second TVAA Championship title.”
In the boys race Wyatt Stroup, Joey Bomberger, and Wesley Ehrisman ran at the front of the race to take first, second, and third places with the time of 18:16, 18:17,and 18:19 respectively. The Indians fourth runner for the day was Coy Kerstetter placing 5th with a time of 19:24. Rounding out the top 5 for the Indians was Teagan Trout in 6th place with a time of 19:55. Juniata’s other finishers were Ricky Guante 7th place in a time of 20:12, Josiah Barner in 8th place with a time of 20:37, Kade Wagner in 9th place with a time of 20:38, Joel Hardin in 15th place with a time of 21:20, David Mayall-Marker in 18th place with a time of 22:23, Luke Fowler in 29th place with a time of 24:18, and Alejandro Guante in 34th place with a time of 38:56.

“The boys ran exceptionally well today and deserve to win another TVAA title. It was nice to see Wesley stay with Joey and Wyatt up front and he is getting stronger every week,” said Miller. “Wyatt came away with his second TVAA title in a row.”
