Strawser Crowned TVAA Champ with a Win and Course Record.  Bomberger Leads Girls

The Juniata Boys Cross Country Team showed their dominance on Tuesday, October 11 at the TVAA Championship meet held in Boalsburg.  The Indian boys had 5 of their scoring runners in the top 6 places.  Senior Logan Strawser won the event with a time of 16:28 and new course record.  The previous record was held by Juniata’s Garrett Baublitz in 2018 with a time of 16:30.  The Indians took 2nd and 3rd places with sophomores Joey Bomberger 17:23.2 and Wyatt Stroup 17:23.3.  Sophomore Wesley Ehrisman finished in 5th place in a time of 18:27 while freshman Levi Zeiders rounded out the scoring for the Indians with his 6th place finish in a time of 18:44.  Freshman Ricky Guante cracked the top 10 with his 9th place finish and a time of 20:21.  Sophomore Charlie Telfer placed 20th with a time of 23:20.  Juniata, Susquenita, St. Joseph, Newport, Millersburg, Upper Dauphin, and Greenwood competed in the championships.  Juniata won the boys team competition with 17.  Susquenita placed 2nd with 55, St. Joseph was third with 56, and Newport 4th with 107.  Juniata Coach Jeff Miller said “The boys showed their dominance today.  They all ran with confidence and deserved to win the TVAA championship meet.  I was impressed with Wesley’s run today.  He was alone in 5th place most of the race, but paced himself very nicely to run a solid race.  Logan could have run faster, but that wasn’t the goal today.  It was to help Joey and Wyatt secure the 2nd and 3rd place finishes and it worked out perfectly.  We still have some work to do with Districts being a little over two weeks out, but these boys aren’t afraid of hard work.  I’m super proud of this team.”

In the girls race, sophomore Jessie Bomberger led the Indians with her 9th place finish in a time of 24:38.  Junior Aspen Eby came in next for the Indians with her 17th place finish in a time of 29:20.  Junior Nia Matthews placed 19th with a time of 32:05.  The Juniata girls didn’t have the necessary 5 runners to compete as a team.  St. Joseph won the girls team competition with 15 while Newport took 2nd with 42.  Juniata Coach Jeff Miller said “The girls ran well today.  It got pretty warm out, so times were a little slower than usual.”

Juniata travels to Mifflin County on Thursday, October 20th for their next meet.
