Editor’s Note: Tara Jackson recently had a chance to interview student athlete Logan Rarrick. Logan is a senior and plays football and wrestles for Bellefonte Area High School.

HS: How long have you played the current sports you are in?
LR: I have played football for 12 years and I have wrestled for 4 years.
HS: What is one piece of advice you would give to young athletes?
LR: A piece of advice that I would give younger athletes is to give everyday everything you have and enjoy it because it goes by way too fast.
HS: Who is someone you look up to?
LR: Someone that I look up to is my sister because she gives everyday everything she has and knows how to overcome challenges.
HS: What are your goals for the upcoming season?
LR: My goals for the upcoming season are to bring a district title back to Bellefonte and then make a state run, qualify the entire DL for all conference and at least 3 of the OL, and qualify for all-state myself.
HS: What do you enjoy doing outside of sports?
LR: Outside of sports I enjoy hunting and fishing with my friends.
HS: What are your plans after high school?
LR: After high school I plan to attend college and play football.
HS: Is there a coach or teammate who has gone above and beyond and pushed you when you wanted to give up?
LR: A coach that has gone above and beyond for me is Coach Manning. He never lets you settle for mediocre even if you are having a bad day you just have to figure out how to make it a good day. Although, the last thing I have ever wanted to do is give up.
HS: What is one of your weaknesses as an athlete? What is one of your strengths as an athlete?
LR: One of my weaknesses is my ability to recover. I have to do a lot of extra stretching in order to recover and stay loose. One of my strengths is my work ethic. I will never skip a set let alone a rep.
HS: Do you ever feel overwhelmed balancing academics and sports? What things do you do to balance the two?
LR: I never feel overwhelmed balancing academics and sports. I just wish I could attend more sporting events to cheer on other people. In order to balance the two I set my priorities and make sure I get everything done before I go and do something extra.
HS: How do you prepare yourself for a game?
LR: In order to prepare myself for a game I do a lot of stretching and usually sit in my hot tub. I also watch a lot of film throughout the week and make sure I have all questions answered before game time.
HS: What strategies do you use to stay motivated during tough times?
LR: In order to stay motivated during tough times I think about people who were successful before me. Everyone goes through tough times and they made it so I will too. I just have to keep pushing on.
